Updated · About Merideth

Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter are two of the most common places buyers compare in northern Palm Beach County. They are close enough that you can tour homes in both areas on the same afternoon, but they are not interchangeable. Palm Beach Gardens generally offers a broader mix of inland communities, golf neighborhoods and newer development, while Jupiter has a stronger coastal identity and more direct connection to the beach and waterfront lifestyle.
Quick answer
Choose Palm Beach Gardens if your priorities lean toward a broad range of communities, golf and club options, shopping access and varied housing inventory. Put Jupiter high on your list if being close to the coast, beaches, waterfront recreation and the Jupiter lifestyle is a major priority. Many buyers should shop both markets before deciding.
The location difference is small, but the lifestyle can feel different
Palm Beach Gardens and Jupiter sit next to each other in northern Palm Beach County. That makes them easy to compare during a home search.
The practical difference is not usually the drive between the two. It is the mix of neighborhoods and amenities around each property.
Jupiter has a clear coastal identity. The Town of Jupiter says it has about 3.4 miles of beaches and a 2.5-mile designated dog-friendly beach area. Palm Beach Gardens has a larger inland footprint and a deep mix of residential communities, golf-centered neighborhoods and newer development.
Housing variety
Palm Beach Gardens includes communities at very different price points and with very different ownership structures.
Examples include:
- PGA National
- Eastpointe
- San Matera
- Evergrene
- Mirasol
- BallenIsles
- Frenchman's Creek
- Steeplechase
- non-gated established neighborhoods
- condos and townhomes
- newer construction
Jupiter also has significant variety, including coastal condos, established single-family neighborhoods, golf communities, Abacoa-area housing, waterfront properties and homes farther west.
The best comparison is not "Which city is cheaper?" It is "What does my budget buy in the specific communities I would actually consider?"
Beach access
If the beach is part of your weekly routine, Jupiter deserves serious consideration.
The Town of Jupiter maintains information on beach crossovers, guarded areas, parking and a dog-friendly beach zone. Buyers who surf, paddle, boat, fish or simply want to spend a lot of time near the ocean may value that proximity differently than someone who is more focused on shopping, golf or access to major roads.
Palm Beach Gardens is still close to the coast. The difference is that the city itself is less beach-centered.
Golf and club communities
Palm Beach Gardens has a strong golf identity. PGA National alone contains numerous residential neighborhoods surrounding a major resort and golf complex, and other club communities throughout the city create additional choices.
Club communities can come with membership structures, HOA fees, rules and amenities that need to be reviewed carefully. Two beautiful homes at similar prices can have very different annual ownership costs depending on the community.
Commute and daily convenience
For many buyers, the biggest factor is not the city line. It is the home's relationship to:
- I-95
- Florida's Turnpike
- work
- school
- medical appointments
- shopping
- restaurants
- the beach
- family
- airports
A home that looks farther away on a map can sometimes make more sense because of its road access.
Dog owners have an interesting reason to compare Jupiter
Merideth's longtime public branding includes #dogfriendlyrealtorpbc, so this is a natural local topic to cover.
Jupiter's official website says the town has a 2.5-mile dog-friendly beach area between beach markers 26 and 57. Cinquez Park also includes a dog park, separate runs for small and large dogs, and a dog washing station.
That does not mean Jupiter is automatically the best place for every dog owner, but it is a meaningful lifestyle feature for buyers who spend a lot of time outside with their pets.
What about schools?
Buyers should verify school assignments by exact address through the School District of Palm Beach County's Find My School tool. Avoid assuming every home in a city shares the same schools.
If school assignment is an important part of your purchase decision, confirm it before making an offer.
What about property taxes?
Property taxes can vary based on assessed value, exemptions and local millage rates. Do not make a purchase based only on the prior owner's tax bill.
If you are moving into a home as your permanent Florida residence, ask the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser about homestead exemption eligibility and deadlines.

FAQs
Is Jupiter more beach-oriented than Palm Beach Gardens?
Yes. Jupiter has direct Atlantic coastline, public beach access and a town identity closely connected to the water. Palm Beach Gardens is nearby but is more inland and has a larger mix of golf, gated and suburban communities.
Which city has more housing variety?
Both have a wide range of housing, but Palm Beach Gardens is especially varied because of its many condos, traditional neighborhoods, golf communities, gated developments and newer construction areas.
Can I live in Jupiter and work in Palm Beach Gardens?
Many residents do. The cities are adjacent, but exact commute time depends on the property, work location, time of day and seasonal traffic.
Which is better for dog owners?
It depends on the specific home and routine, but Jupiter has a notable 2.5-mile dog-friendly beach area and dedicated dog park facilities that make it worth considering.
Should I choose a city before talking to a Realtor?
Not necessarily. A better approach is often to define your budget and priorities first, then compare homes in both cities before narrowing your search.
